Social Media Day, June 30th is an annual event when users organize a gathering inspired by social networking. The event was invented by Mashable, a website dealing with news, development and phenomenon of social networks.

In Serbia, Social Media Day was marked with presenting some of the most successful projects, but also introducing the public to newest trends and tendencies in the world.

A renowned lecturer at the Digital Marketing Institute, Greg Fry gave a talk on the importance of digital communication and also used the opportunity to announce the opening of DMI Balkan later this year. Ivan Jelić of «Safer Internet Center Serbia» introduced the attendees to their project for child protection on internet.

Aleksandar Petković presented insights about importance of integration mobile into social media marketing strategy. Based on the case study of a fictional online character, Boris Trivan discussed the possibilities of a transfer from social to traditional media. Last but not least, the chairman of Irish Internet Association, Keith Bohanna gave a talk on digital strategy on social networks.
